To delete or deactivate other fulfillment locations in Shopify, you need to remove the locations you no longer use for inventory management, shipping, or fulfillment. Shopify allows you to manage your locations from the Settings > Locations page.
1. Log in to your Shopify admin
Open your Shopify admin dashboard.
2. Navigate to locations
Go to Settings > Locations
3. Review locations
Review the list of active locations, which includes warehouses, retail stores, and third-party fulfillment services or apps (such as Amazon or dropshipping services).
4. Deactivate the location
For physical locations or warehouses:
- Click the location you want to delete.
- Click Deactivate location at the bottom of the location details page.
- Confirm the deactivation when prompted.
- Any remaining inventory will automatically move to your default location.
For third-party fulfillment apps or services:
- For app-created locations (like Amazon FBA or Printful), first disconnect the app.
- Go to Apps in Shopify admin.
- Find the app and click Uninstall.
- The location will be removed automatically after uninstalling the app.
5. Confirm changes
After deactivating or deleting a location, verify that:
- All inventory has been properly reassigned to active locations.
- Fulfillment priorities are updated in Settings > Locations > Fulfillment priority.
- All affected markets and products are updated correctly.
Important Notes:
- Cannot delete primary location:While you can't delete your default location, you can designate another location as the default.
- Limits on locations:Each Shopify plan has location limits (e.g., Shopify Basic allows 4 locations). Deactivating unused locations frees up space.
- Inventory adjustments:Though Shopify automatically moves inventory to the default location upon deactivation, verify inventory records for accuracy.
- Reactivating locations:To restore a deactivated location, return to the Locations page and click Reactivate location.
